Hi, I'm Lyssa.
I believe healing happens in relationship — in a space where you feel genuinely safe, seen, and never judged. My style is warm and down-to-earth, and yes, there's room for humor even when the work is hard.
I'm a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor with more than five years in the helping professions, practicing under the clinical supervision of Christa Rupar, LPC (#2020043212). I work most often with people carrying trauma — including sexual and religious trauma — and with couples ready to find their way back to each other.
Relational, trauma-informed, and led by your nervous system
So much of what we carry isn't stored in words — it lives in the body. That's why my work goes beyond talk therapy. I take a somatic, holistic perspective, integrating mind and body so that change is something you actually feel, not just understand.
We always begin with safety. Before we go anywhere difficult, we build grounding and steadiness so your system has somewhere secure to stand. From there, I draw on EMDR to gently reprocess trauma, the Gottman Method to help couples reconnect, and expressive, person-centered, and feminist approaches tailored to who you are.
You are the expert on your own life. My job is to walk alongside you with empathy, skill, and genuine human connection — never to rush you, and never to judge where you are. You set the pace.
